Why should we develop attention?
For a more complete answer to this question, let's see what attention is. As we have said, we are surrounded by information, various kinds of signals that our brain perceives. And just with the help of attention we are able to highlight the most important of them and concentrate for the subsequent decision-making or the commission of an action. That is, attention is the direction of our consciousness, the ability of its concentration on any object or activity.

At the same time, attention is very connected with other mental processes, such as memory and thinking. For example, if you read a book or an article inattentively, constantly distracting, you are unlikely to remember all the details. You can, perhaps, express the main idea of what you read (and not always), but you will not be able to describe the main character in detail or name all the sub-articles of the article.

You can talk a lot about attention, its qualities and types, but this is not the topic of this article. Let's still answer the question: "Why develop attention?". We single out several main points:

Improving work efficiency.
When you are doing an important thing, and in the neighborhood there is a repair or a baby is crying, and you cannot concentrate, the implementation of this matter will obviously be delayed. But if you have trained the ability to focus on the main thing, then no extraneous noise can prevent you from doing the work on time and efficiently.

2. Promotion on the career ladder.

If you want to occupy a management position, you must learn to quickly switch your attention from solving one issue to another.

3. Drive safely.

Every driver should be able to keep their attention on the road for a long time. Sometimes we tend to involuntarily switch our attention to our own thoughts, or advertising, or a song that is being played on the radio. But we must remember that driving it is unsafe.

4. Do several things at once.

In the daily bustle of working days, time passes quickly. Every day we have to do a lot of things. And if we do not learn how to do some of them at the same time, then we can forget about the overall success in life. For example, even a modern mother needs to prepare food at the same time (most likely several dishes at once), do homework with an older child and watch that the younger one does not spill or spill anything. And pay attention when the washing machine turns off to hang laundry in time.
